Silverfish control in the Barossa and Gawler
Insect Invasion does silverfish control for homes and businesses across the Barossa Valley and Gawler. We treat where silverfish actually live, like wardrobes, linen cupboards, bookshelves, storage boxes, skirtings and, where they're coming from above, the roof space, so you stop finding them in your clothes, papers and cupboards.
Silverfish are small, silver-grey, carrot-shaped insects with three bristly tails. They hide during the day in dark, slightly damp spots and come out at night to feed on starch: paper, book bindings, wallpaper paste, cardboard, natural fabrics and dry food. They don't bite and aren't a health risk, but they can slowly damage stored documents, photos and clothes, and they're a sign that a dark corner of the house suits them a little too well.
Where we treat
- Wardrobes, linen cupboards and bookshelves
- Storage areas, boxes, sheds and garages
- Skirtings, cornices and gaps around fittings
- The roof space, where needed, when they're dropping down through light fittings and cornices
Older homes and stored things
The Barossa's older stone homes, with their cellars, deep cupboards and cool, still corners, suit silverfish well, and so do boxes of papers, books and old clothes put away in the shed or under the house. If you're keeping family records, photos or a wine-label collection in storage, it's worth getting silverfish under control before they find it.
Helping the treatment last
- Store papers, photos and clothes in sealed plastic tubs rather than cardboard
- Keep cupboards and storage areas dry and aired
- Clear out old newspapers and cardboard that silverfish feed and hide in
In the Barossa and Gawler
Silverfish live indoors all year, so there's no bad time to treat them. Older homes, cellars and cool, closed-up storage areas see them most.

Silverfish control questions
No. They don't bite or spread disease. The problem is damage: they feed on paper, book bindings, cardboard and natural fabrics, so they can slowly ruin stored documents, photos and clothes.
