Flea treatment in the Barossa and Gawler
Insect Invasion does flea treatment and flea control for homes, rentals and sheds across the Barossa Valley and Gawler. We treat the places fleas actually breed, like carpets, rugs, floors, under furniture, pet bedding areas and the shady spots outside where pets lie, and we give you straight advice on the pet side of it so the problem doesn't come straight back.
Most flea problems start with a cat or dog. Adult fleas live on the animal, but their eggs drop off wherever the pet sleeps and walks, and the larvae and cocoons build up in carpets, cracks between floorboards and the dust under furniture. That's why treating the pet alone often isn't enough, and why a house can suddenly come alive with fleas when people move in or come home after a few weeks away.
What the flea treatment covers
- Carpets, rugs and hard floors, including along skirtings and between floorboards
- Under beds, couches and other furniture where pets rest
- Pet bedding areas, laundries and the car or shed if the pets use them
- Outdoor resting spots: under verandahs, decks and shady garden beds
Getting your place ready
- Vacuum every floor well just before we arrive, then empty the vacuum outside
- Wash pet bedding, throws and rugs the pets lie on
- Have your pets treated with a flea product from your vet at the same time, so the house and the animals are done together
- Clear the floors of toys and clutter so the treatment reaches the carpet
Why you might still see a few fleas afterwards
Flea cocoons are tough, and young fleas can sit inside them for weeks until warmth, movement or a passing animal wakes them up. So for a little while after the treatment you may still see the odd flea as the last ones hatch and cross the treated floors. Keep vacuuming regularly, because the vibration brings them out sooner. If they're still biting well after that, call Garry and he'll take another look.
End of lease and rentals
Many leases ask for a flea treatment when a pet has lived in the property. If you're moving out, or you manage a rental, we can book the treatment around the final clean and the handover. Our end of lease page has the details.
In the Barossa and Gawler
Fleas build up fastest in the warmer, more humid months, so spring and summer are when most flea calls come in. Houses that have been empty for a while, or where a pet has just moved out, are the classic flea jobs any time of year.
We do flea treatment mainly in Nuriootpa and Tanunda, all around the Barossa Valley, and in Gawler. Every town we cover is on our service areas page.

Flea treatment questions
Yes. We treat the house and yard, and your pets need their own flea treatment from your vet or pet store at the same time. Doing one without the other is the most common reason fleas come back.
