Who we are

This website is operated by Insect Invasion, a family-run pest control business servicing the the Barossa Valley & Adelaide suburbs. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” means Insect Invasion. We are committed to protecting your privacy and to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What we collect

When you contact us or request a quote, we collect the information you choose to give us, typically:

• your name;
• your phone number;
• your email address, if you choose to provide it;
• the details you tell us about your property (or business, for commercial enquiries) and the pest problem you'd like us to look at;
• any photos you choose to attach to the quote form; and
• any other information you include in your message or tell us over the phone.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, sensitive information (such as health, financial account numbers or government identifiers). We do not collect payment card details through this website — payment for any work is arranged directly with you.

How we collect it

We collect your information directly from you — through our online enquiry and quote form, by email, by phone, or in person when we visit. When you send our quote form, your details (and any photos) go through a secure function on our website host, Netlify, and are emailed to Garry by an email delivery service called Resend. If your browser has JavaScript turned off, or that service is unavailable, the form is sent through a form service called FormSubmit instead. A copy of every website enquiry also goes to JB Digital Barossa (see below). When you visit the website, our host and Google Analytics also collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type and the pages you view. Where it is lawful and practicable, you can deal with us anonymously or by using a pseudonym — for example, by asking a general question without giving your full details — although we may not be able to provide a quote or book a job without a way to contact you.

How we use it

We use your personal information only for the purpose you gave it to us and for related purposes you would reasonably expect, including to:

• respond to your enquiry and answer your questions;
• prepare and provide a quote;
• arrange, schedule and carry out a treatment;
• keep in touch with you about your service and any follow-up; and
• keep proper records of the work we do.

We do not use your information for unrelated marketing. After a job we may send you a one-off email asking for a Google review, or a reminder when a follow-up treatment is due. If you'd rather not hear from us, just tell us and we won't contact you again.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We only disclose your information where it is necessary to run our business or where the law requires it, for example:

• to service providers who help us operate — our website host (Netlify), our email and form-delivery providers (Resend and FormSubmit) and Google (website analytics) — and only so they can provide that service to us;
• to JB Digital Barossa, who built and maintain this website. They receive a copy of website enquiries and keep a short note of each one (name, email and message) in their client system, so they can check enquiries are getting through and nothing is missed. They don't use your details for anything else; and
• where we are required or authorised to do so by law, or to protect our rights.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the online services we use to run the website and receive enquiries (such as our website host, form-delivery, email and analytics providers) may store or process information on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to be handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies, Facebook and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use our website — for example, which pages are visited and whether someone taps our phone number or sends the quote form. Google Analytics uses cookies and gives us statistics; it doesn't tell us who you are. You can opt out with Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.

Our home page shows our latest Facebook posts using Facebook's own page plugin. Because that content is loaded from Facebook, Facebook may set cookies in your browser and may record that you visited the page — the same as on any website that embeds a Facebook feed. We don't receive any personal information from it, and you don't need a Facebook account to use our site. You can control or block cookies in your browser settings; blocking them will not stop you using the important parts of our site.

Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We only keep your information for as long as we reasonably need it — to provide our service, to look after you as a customer and to meet our record-keeping obligations — and we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it when it is no longer needed.

Accessing and correcting your information

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to ask for a copy of it, and to ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep. To make a request, just contact Garry using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, and we don't charge a fee for making a request.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. We take privacy concerns seriously and will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) on 1300 363 992 or at oaic.gov.au.
