Bed bug treatment in the Barossa and Gawler
Insect Invasion does bed bug inspections and bed bug treatment for homes, rentals and holiday accommodation across the Barossa Valley and Gawler. We start by confirming it really is bed bugs, then treat the beds, furniture and the cracks around them where bed bugs hide, and we tell you plainly what to expect, including when a follow-up is needed.
Bed bugs are small, flat, reddish-brown insects about the size of an apple seed. They feed on blood at night and spend the day tucked into mattress seams, bed frames, bedheads and bedside furniture. They travel in luggage, bags and second-hand furniture, so they turn up in clean, tidy homes and well-run accommodation just as easily as anywhere else. Having them says nothing about how clean your place is.
Signs of bed bugs
- Itchy bites, often in a line or small cluster, that appear overnight
- Small dark spots or smears on the mattress, sheets or bed frame
- Pale shed skins or tiny eggs along mattress seams and in corners of the bed base
- The bugs themselves, hiding in seams, joins and screw holes in the bed
How we treat bed bugs
- An inspection of the beds and rooms to confirm it's bed bugs and see how far they've spread
- Treatment of mattresses, bed bases and bedheads, bedside furniture, skirtings and nearby cracks
- Advice on bedding, washing and what to do with infested items
- A follow-up where needed, because bed bug eggs can survive a single round
Before we arrive
Don't throw the mattress out or start moving furniture between rooms before we've had a look: carrying infested things through the house is how bed bugs spread to other bedrooms. Wash the bedding on the hottest setting it allows and dry it on hot, then leave the beds where they are. Garry will go through anything else your place needs when you book.
B&Bs, holiday rentals and rentals
The Barossa has plenty of B&Bs, cottages and holiday rentals, and one guest's suitcase is all it takes. We treat accommodation discreetly and book around your guests where we can. Property managers and landlords can call us for rentals too.
